Publishing and editing
documents
on your
Enlighten.Net intranet
Enlighten.Net makes publishing documents to your intranet so easy that
anyone can do it with only minimal training (assuming they are authorized
to publish, of course).
Enlighten.Net can accommodate any file type
Text files, Web pages, word processing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, CAD drawings, images,
audio and video clips, Acrobat PDF files, and more: Enlighten.Net lets you publish them all, using the same tools and interface. This
sophisticated publishing, editing, and document linking technology makes for one of the most user-friendly intranet
content management tools available.
Drag-and-drop publishing
The fastest way to publish an existing document is simply to select the file with your mouse
in Windows Explorer, drag it to the NAVbar (Navigation Bar,
pictured at left), and drop it on the name of the site where you’d like it published.
The Publisher window (pictured inset, below) appears, allowing you to rename your
file...and that's all there is to it!
(Well, actually, there is more: You can opt to create a link
to the file at the same time, if you so desire. It only takes
another split second.)
HTML Editor
If you'd rather create or edit an intranet document directly in Enlighten.Net,
that's a snap, too. Enlighten.Net's HTML Editor (included)
has an intuitive, word-processor style interface that produces
attractive and functional intranet documentsand users don't have to know HTML to use it.
(Users who do know HTMLyour IT staff, perhaps your marketing deparment, and maybe that fresh-faced
college interncan go ahead and hand-code in HTML...but only if they want to.)
Add links effortlessly
One of the most important benefits of an intranet is the ability to link related
information. Once you publish a file, you want others to be able to find it quickly.
In Enlighten.Net, you can just click a checkbox in the
Publisher window to automatically add a link to your document
from any existing intranet page capable of holding hyperlinks.
That includes not only Web (HTML) pages, but also documents
created in Microsoft Office applications, most desktop publishing
applications, and more.

Linking to other intranet documents or Internet Web sites is
just as easy. Simply navigate to the document or site and click the bullseye button in the
NAVbar to store the path information for later use.
Then, use the HTML Editor
to edit the document on which you want the link to appear. Select your stored link from
the convenient Add Link drop-down menu, and it will automatically be added to
the bottom of the page. From there, you can easily move it wherever you wish. |
